Reunion Season

July and August is reunion season for us.  Our families are very dear to us and we make sure that our schedule stays open and flexible for the reunion season every year.  Currently we attend, on average, 4 reunions every year.  One in particular is the highlight of our entire year!

As you can see we are still using a two person tent and are searching the market for a larger, family friendly, car caping tent.  If you have any feedback for us on tents please let us know your thoughts.

Campfire is a HUGE fascination to humans of all ages.  No matter how old we are our eyes are drawn to the dance of the flame.  Children are especially mesmerized by it's enchanting glow.  Though caution must be taken with kids around an open flame there is no harm is some smore makin!

Our Eno hammock is our prized camping luxury!  If there are trees where we are headed this is one essential that gets thrown in first.  Baby K loves to hang around in this thing, especially for nap time.

One thing that you must remember when camping with your kid is that they are washable.  There has been many occasions in which this guy has been much dirtier.  We believe that it is important to allow them to explore and discover.  This includes tasting rocks, dirt, pinecones and other random objects.

A small portion of the family gathers to listen to the Mountain Man tell his tall tales.  A nightly campfire program always improves any camping trip.  Campfires lend themselves to tall tales, sing-a-longs, ghost stories, or simply conversation and deep reflection.

Wildlife is another great aspect of getting outdoors and Leave No Trace principles will assist in keeping the animals wild around campgrounds.

Family reunions are great opportunities to get out and camp with your kids.  If you are new to the experience being around your family can be a great support and prepare you for getting out on your own.  I am grateful for the things my family has taught me and how they have shared their passions for being outside.
